In today’s busy world stress is becoming more recognized, stress related illness is the major cause of doctor visits today. Stress can make us experience a number of physical and emotional effects that can create positive or negative feelings. As a positive influence, stress can help you to stay focused and alert. But as a negative influence, it can become negative to your emotional and physical well-being.

Therefore depending on our reactions to certain circumstances, stress will either help or hinder us.

Relax

Practising relaxation techniques reduces stress, helps you feel good, so you can better manage your busy life. Stress can be managed by changing one’s interpretation about the situation, most stress that people experience is caused by their thought patterns and perceptions.

When you become aware of negative thought patterns this can help you to begin to deal with stress responses. Identify the thoughts and beliefs which cause your problems.

This can be done in writing a journal or mood diary. You may be surprised to find that a pattern emerges. Once you are more aware of what your stressors are, you are then in a better position to take positive action to deal with them. Pinpoint specific episodes where you feel and behave in the ways you would like to change. Reality check and the quality of life – what’s really important? Put everything into perspective and deal with them.
